Hi All,

This is a shock for me to write – but I’ve been thinking about it for a little while.  The story starts back on 21st March 2012 when I needed to get X-Rays after a motor vehicle accident, then going to see my local doctor.  He put me on his scales, and I was at a weight of 178 kilos (392.5 pounds).  This meant that I had put on 20 kilos (44 pounds) in just 10 months.  This brought me to tears, as the outcome was I’d be dead in 10 years if something didn’t change.

Fast forward to 2014 – I’m now at 125 kilos (nearly 276 pounds) which means I’ve lost 53 kilos (or nearly 117 pounds).  It hasn’t been easy, and really only in the last 7 months have I really been focused on losing the weight.  I’ve had to be really strict with myself, and what I’ve been doing is replacing 2 meals with meal replacement shakes which are high in protein, and having a small meal at night which is mainly vegetables.

One of the main motivations, is that I have osteoarthritis in the left knee, which means a full knee replacement.  The surgeon won’t do it till I get more weight off, and has given me a goal to aim for by September, when he wants to see me again.  The main issue is the ligaments, and if we’re not careful, which means if they go, then the knee replacement won’t help.

I’ll keep posting with updates, and let you know how I’m travelling.
