Well – that’s it for 2011 and now for 2012

Well, that was the year that was, and to give you a brief idea of how I spent it, and my plans for 2012.

Work

2011

Well – it started off slowly, then in June I saw a position advertised that I liked.  I applied for it, and was interviewed and employed within the week.  The company I am working for is Traffic Technologies as the IT Support person.  I am taking care of the network, as well as the computer systems and application support.  A challenging role.

Server upgrades happened over the Christmas break, so got to the Sydney, Brisbane and Canberra offices between the 27th December and 4th January.

2012

At this stage, I’ll be trying to understand Traffic Technologies and the ins and outs, and hopefully getting to the other business sites for a meet and greet.

Family

2011

In May my mum had a minor stroke (referred to as a TIA), which is the best kind of stroke you can have they say.  In the investigations of this, they also found a tumour on the brain stem.  Needless to say this was a bit of a shock to us all.  The tumour was removed on June 10 and was found to be benign.  so it has been a slow recovery for mum.

In September, my brother got married again near Canberra.  I couldn’t make it, which was a shame.  With me being out of work initially, I didn’t have the funds – then getting a job, I didn’t have enough leave accrued.  Also, being so new to the work, I still needed time to get my head around the work.  All the best for my brother.

2012

No major news on the upcoming year for the family, but you never know.

Friends

2012

At this stage – no news from friends as to what they are up-to, so we’ll see what happens.

Wishing you all a Happy and prosperous New Year.
